Habitat On The Press

In 2020, Standard Vision featured the dance film "Habitat," directed by Sheila García and Inés Valderas. This award-winning film from the Los Angeles Dance Film Festival explores the relationship between body and environment through dance and surreal elements. "Habitat is a mix of feelings, life stories and colors brought to the big screen through individual characters," the directors explain. The film was inspired by their fascination with a green bathroom with natural light, which "created a magical and brutal space." The choreography was created specifically for the film, with movements designed for the cinematography and the story they wanted to tell, seeking "the humanity of the body" and choreographing even the smallest details. The setting, a house that was about to be remodeled, played a fundamental role in the film, as "the environment plays a very important role in Habitat since it placed us in a special situation."
